Volunteer Opportunities

We are a community-driven organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities and veterans live their best lives through the transformative power of sailing.

However, we can’t cast off without a dedicated crew. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or someone who prefers to keep their feet on dry land, there is a place for you here. Volunteering with us isn’t just about giving your time; it’s about joining a family that values service, adventure, and the open sea.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking passionate, reliable individuals who want to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Our volunteer needs are diverse, spanning from technical maritime roles to creative administrative positions. Current openings include:

  • Skippers & Deck Hands
  • Administrative & Operations Specialists
  • Special Events Coordinators
  • Boat Maintenance Experts

Sailing Roles

If you love the feeling of the wind in the sails and the spray of the saltwater, our maritime roles are the perfect fit. These volunteers are the direct link between our mission and the people we serve.

Skippers

  • The Skipper is the leader of the vessel. In this role, you are in full command of the boat and responsible for the safety of all passengers and crew.
  • Navigate and Sail: Masterfully handle the sailboat in varying conditions.
  • Leadership: Direct Deck Hands in their duties to ensure a smooth voyage.
  • Safety First: Ensure all maritime safety protocols are followed strictly.

Deck Hands

  • Deck Hands are the engine room of our sailing operations. They provide the physical and social support that makes each trip a success.
  • Gear Management: Manage sailing gear, lines, and rigging under the direction of the Skipper.
  • Passenger Support: Assist passengers in boarding and ensure they are comfortable throughout the trip.
  • Effective Communication: Act as a bridge between the crew and passengers, providing friendly interaction and clear instructions.

Admin & Operations

You don’t need sailing experience to make an impact. Our “shore crew” ensures that the organization runs smoothly and that our message reaches the community. If you are organized, tech-savvy, or a creative communicator, we need you.

  • Scheduling: Help organize and coordinate sailing trips for our members.
  • Member Relations: Register new members and maintain our database to ensure everyone gets a chance to sail.
  • Digital Presence: Manage our social media accounts and write our monthly newsletter to keep our community engaged and informed.

Special Events

Our monthly Open Houses are the highlight of our social calendar. These events allow us to showcase our mission to the public and provide a space for veterans and disabled participants to connect.

  • Event Planning: Help brainstorm and execute themes for our monthly gatherings.
  • Hosting: Act as an ambassador, welcoming guests and explaining our programs.
  • Hospitality: Prepare food, decorate the venue, and ensure every guest feels like part of the family.

Boat Maintenance

Our sailboats are our most precious assets, and keeping them in top shape is a labor of love. If you enjoy working with your hands, this is the role for you.

  • Inspections: Conduct regular safety checks on hulls, masts, and rigging.
  • Repairs: Fix wear and tear to ensure the longevity of our fleet.
  • Cleaning: Keep the boats pristine and ready for our next group of adventurers.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Volunteering is a two-way street. While you give your time to help veterans and people with disabilities, you gain just as much in return.
